Which do you think is louder. 12" alpine type R or Pioneer premier(1000 watts RMS) because they are both around the same price. The pioneers 1000 watt RMS sub is only about 10-30$ more.alpine type r vs pioneer premier -- posted image.

I work at a shop that sells the pioneers, there pretty blah, theres not much to it, they don't take even 800 watts rms very well. The alpines are proven performers, I have actually won some competitions locally with a single R-12 in a properly ported box, it took a beating, but the type-r needs a true 500 watts rms to really get thumping hard, and they work best in ported box's specifically made for them.

Type R's can also handle more than 500 watts if the power is clean...I've heard some Pioneers but I prefer the R as its been proven to be an awesome performer and from my experiences with it I love it

was running 4 12" alpine type-r with two Gravity 2200 watt amps (Pretty decent no names), 2 subs to each amp, 1200 watts rms to each two subs. Hooked up two pioneer champion series to the amp, they blew out within minutes. Like everyone else said the type-r's can take the extra RMS watts, go for the type-r's. Im looking to cop 2 more subs and run 6 type-r's.
