Viper 5900, 1990 Ford festiva

This is my first remote start install, so im not sure, do i program the tach signal when its cold or when the engine is hot? When its really cold outside it idles at like 2000rpm but when its hot it idles around 700rpm. The remote start will mainly be used when its cold.

Everything is working purfectly so far. It even remote starts fine w/o the tach being programed. Neutral saftey, hood pin, and brrake shutdown all work falwlessley

Go for whatever works. That said, we do a ton of Toyotas that idle very high when cold and they have issues starting when cold if we install them when it is warm. To correct this we program the tach while holding the rpms at about 1500. So far this has worked for us...

if you have a car the idles high when started, you can put the car in drive while holding the brake.  that will lower the rpm's to normal idle speeds versus high idle on start..
if at first u dont succeed........ lower ur standards

Do as stuntinonabusa says, learn them as low as possible, when r/s'ing the car, it will be cold and be at higher rpms than you learned, telling the r/s that the car is running.
