I just installed an auto command remote start with the 457gw in a 03 tahoe.  The remote start works, but when I use the key to start the tahoe the dome lights flicker and door ajar chime goes off the whole time it is running, it doesn't do this in remote start.  If I unplug the 457 everything is fine also.  Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the gwr input of the 457g is shorting the ground.  The domelights coming on and the door ajar message are normal with that piece when the remote start shuts down.  The 457g sends a signal to the computer telling it that the drivers door was opened.  This causes the computer to tell the radio to turn off.  That part is normal operation.

The dome lights and door ajar never turn off while driving down the road.

Then the gwr input of the 457g is shorted to ground, or the wire its hooked up to from the r/s is latched to ground.  That wire (blue/white) should ONLY have ground when the vehicle is remotestarted.  It could always be a defective module, but I haven't come across any yet.

Sorry but i have to ask a dumb question:  what is the gwr input?

I have the input (blue/white) ground hooked to the WHITE/ black wire off the r/s which is ignition 3... is this right?

thanks for your help!

gwr= ground when running.    You have the blue/white hooked up to ignition 3.  That sounds right (not familiar with the system you've got).  Try disconnecting that wire from the 457g if the problem stops then there's an issue with that wire.  Test it, it should only show ground when the r/s is active.

I checked the gwr wire and it has 3.95 volts when unit is off, then it goes to ground when the remotestart is running.  I hooked the grey/black wire from the 457 to the dome light circuit and unhooked it, but it doesn't make a difference.

And yes if I disconnect the gwr the problem quits.  Does that mean the module is bad?

test the output of the r/s first.  If it only shows ground during r/s then the bypass is bad.  If it shows ground all the time then the r/s is bad.

Thanks for the help.  I guess I will try a new mod, it probably doesn't have warranty.
