08 scion tc

Hey guys, I have a question about this car. I was a installer for 7 years but have been out of the mobile elctronics world for a while and want to cover my *** on a vehicle I have not work on befor. I am going to be doing a remote start/alarm with a bunch of add-ons on this car. I went to the guys house the other day and saw the car for the first time and have a questions about the driver side knee airbag. Is this air bag fully exposed when you take down the underdash or is this like the old Kia (I think it was a Kia) that when you drop the underdash the airbag is attached to the panel. The reason for asking is I do not want to damage the airbag since this is a side job.

I haven't done an 08 yet, but the year I did, I didn't take the underdash off. I don't think it came off.  To get to the ignition wires you take off the steering wheel shroud.  The screws are NOT under the column like usual, they are facing you.  You start the car and turn the steering wheel one way, and you'll see 1 of the screws. Then turn the wheel the other way and you'll see the second. Separate the 2 halves from where the screws came from, it'll pop right open. You'll get all your ignition wires there and your horn wire. Also the car does have a transponder, you can give up 1 of the 3 keys and use a universal "key in the box" bypass, or you can use the key-override-sl2 by fortin and not have to give up a key.  Almost every other wire is in the drivers kick panel or running board(Positive parking lights, lock/unlock, brake wire, drivers door trigger and hatch trigger) The only other 2 wires you have to get, are at the fusebox.  One is domelight supervision which isn't really needed Domelight comes on with unlock as long as the car isn't running. The second wire is the passenger door trigger. The passenger door trigger is a pain to get to its orange in the upper right plug. Fairly straight forward car.  Oh also tach is right at the OBDII connection - its a black wire all by itself off to one side of the OBDII connector.
