it all depends on how many subs your going to get, if they are dvc's, and what kind of amp. Let say your just going to get one SVC sub and a mono amp, you would go for the 2ohm one beacuse you then would get the most power out of the amp. If your were to get 2 svc subs and a mono amp, go with 4 ohm subs then you can wire in parrell and get 2 ohms, unless you have a good amp that can handle 1 ohm in wich case you would get 2 2ohm subs. Do you get the picture? Anymore questions just ask

two svc 4 ohm subs wired in parallel = 2 ohm total load
two svc 2 ohm subs wired in parallel = 1 ohm total load
two dvc 4 ohm subs wired in parallel = 1 ohm total load
two dvc 4 ohm subs wired in parallel/series = 4 ohm total load
two dvc 2 ohm subs wired in parallel = .5 ohm total load
two dvc 2 ohm subs wired in parallel/series = 2 ohm total load
two dvc 2 ohm subs wired in series = 8 ohm total load
Keep in mind that amps that are .5 and 1 ohm stable can be extremely axpensive. A mono amp that is 2 ohm stable is a good investment in my opinion. Even though mono amps only have 1 set of outputs, you can still wire multiple subs to it, making it extremely versitile. Some people prefer to go with a 2 channel amp that is bridgable for max power, but I prefer a mono amp over a bridged 2 channel amp any day. I'm running a Rockford 500bd (mono amp) powering two 4 ohm svc HE 12's. It's close to a 150 db system at near 700 watts. I plan on doubling it in the near future...
