Yes i currently own a AVIC-N1 and i got everything hooked up bestids the speed sensor. figured i didnt need it for the navigation.  but the problem is. when i put the navigation disc in it reads them but when i pull them out and access the navigation it dont show me where gas stations, grocery stores.. etc... was wondering how i get all this my gps is just all little lines and thats it.. idk help would be appreciated.

You will only get detailed map info (POI's and close up views) with the navigation DVD in the drive. Also, you will want to hoop up the VSS wire if possible. This will give you much better accuracy for the GPS.

vss wire/?? what is this wire. what does it do.. do i need it how do i hooki t up ?

You dont technically need it, but it will make your GPS much more accurate. Its the pink wire coming off the harness labled speed sense. Its hooked to the cars computer and tells the AVIC how fast the car is actually moving. Without the wire hooked up, it can only sense speed by checking the GPS satellites which can cause a delay.
