If you run your RCA's along your power wire you will get a high pitched whiney noise coming through your speakers whenever your engine revs.

No always true. While its best that you run them an opposite sides, if you have a good amp with a solid ground and good cable you should be ok.
I know people that have ran the power and RCA(Mono amp)down the same side without any problems.

Mabey you have.

But on any amp manual I have ever seen it tells you to Keep RCA cables isolated from the amplifier's power cables and any high power auto accessories, especially electric motors. To prevent coupling the noise from radiated electrical fields into the audio signal.

Yea, I was always told to run the RCA's down the other side of the vehicle than the power wire. Your amp might have a good ground, but this way you dont need to rip out the RCA's after everything is installed. Its just better to be safe and run them on seperate sides.
