Hello All,

I have a 2001 Ford Excursion Limited with the Rear Seat Entertainment System. 2 Front Speakers & 4 Rear Speakers (2 Left & 2 Right). Can anyone tell me what the Factory Speakers are rated? in Ohms? Thanks. I want to match a new amp to the speakers.

Do you have a factory amplifier?

If so - I have no idea what the impedence is - could be anything.

If not - probably 4-ohms.

I would not recommend adding an after market amplifier to OEM speakers.

You can use a multimeter to measure the DC resistance of the speakers. The impedance will never fall below that point so it should get you an idea. Technically the DCR should be .707 of the nominal impedance, but in reality it rarely is.

If you are going to connect 6 speakers to an amplifier, you really need to get a 4 channel amplifier that is 2 ohm stereo stable.(Most decent amplifiers are) Chances are the speakers in your vehicle are 4 Ohms. If you connect the 2 front speakers to the front channels of the amp, and connect the 4 rear speakers to the rear channels of the amp, You should be fine.
