I'm building an overhead console for a customer. 95 suburban putting a 15 overhead in.  I had to relocate heater controls and vents, and formed a fg pod.  duraglassed it and got it fairly smooth, i'm going to vinyl it but i want it to bet kinda spongey like a factory dash or arm rest is you will.  i've got 1/4 inch closed cell foam.  but with the curves i'm pretty sure the foam will not lay flat.  i had the idea of getting a poly fil kinda stuff that comes in sheet for blankets and comforters  streching it in that then vinyl. anybody try this before or have a better idea.... does anybody know of a spray flocking foam type of stuff? thanks for the help

I've used one or two layers of regular box carpet under the wrapping material for a padded finish. Just make sure it isn't too shaggy, maybe take a heat gun to it lightly first to singe off looser pieces. I've found it's also great at covering up imperfections.
