I just installed the Pioneer avic, and the sound on the radio works, but when I switch it to DVD it'll play video but no sound at all. Then when I plug the ipod in same thing, it shows that it's playing but no sound. I don't have an amp, what am I missing? Any help would be great cause I'm going nuts trying to figure this out.

What kind of car is it? Sounds like you have the power antenna wire hooked up to the fact. amp turn on in the vehicle.

it's a '05 chevy equinox. I tooked up the power Antenna wire on the harness to the antenna wire on the player. The car does not have a power antenna, but I just connected them because I thought I should have. Was that wrong?

OK, I checked the antenna wires, and they are good to go. So it's something else.

On your Pioneer deck there are 2 Blue wires  1 is solid blue and the other has a white stripe on it.   The blue one is for a power antenna.  The blue/white is for amplifier turn on.  The wire in the harness for your car is labeled Power Antenna.  This is the wire that turns your factory amplifier on.  On an aftermarket radio, the power antenna wire goes dead when you listen to a CD or DVD, so your antenna goes down.  You did exactly as the harness told you to do.   Instead of connecting the blue wire of the radio to the power antenna wire of the harness, you need to connect the blue/white wire to the power antenna wire of the harness.
