What are the advantages and disadvantages of stuffing a box? Does anyone know if this is good or bad on the subs? What do you recomend?

Basically what that does is makes the air space a little more dense and tricks the subs into thinking that there is more air space. If you have a box that is a little to small then you would lightly stuff the box with either polyfil(dacron)or pink fiberglass insulation, and this would trick the woofer into thinking there is as much as twenty percent more air space. As far as the effect on the woofer, physically there shouldn't be any so long as the stuffing doesn't touch the sub, sound wise there should be an improvement if the box is small.

It also will give you more mid bass but you sacrifice a little on the low end. As far as it being a good idea I would suggest trying it and seeing if you like how it sounds. I have stuffed many boxes and it varies from install to install. Some sound better stuffed and some don’t. A rule for filling the box with polyfill etc is 50% of the enclosure or 1lb per cu/ft.
