ok i have a Lanzar 4000 watt mxa282 amp, and before yall say ANYTHING! about lanzar i just wanna say you can love it or hate it, either way just help me out! lol. anyways it says 1650 rms each channel which im thinkin its overrated to about 1000 watts rms each channel. so i need a good set of subs or just a nice 15 to match it up with. i think that amp is 2 ohm stable in stereo. i only have about 200 dollars now but if theres a good enough price i may go up a little. thanks for you guys help!

Your going to want to run it 4 ohms bridged to get the most out of it. If your looking for a single 15" sub, then look for one in the 1500 watts rms range as yes, that amp is over rated for sure! You want a sub with either a single 4 ohm voice coil or a dual 2 ohm coil configuration. Unfortunately though, for a sub that can handle around 1500 rms it is going to cost a LOT more than $200 and will require expertise in building the proper box for it, im not talking about yo buddy who's been installin banging systems for a while, im talking a pro that actually knows what ohm's law is and how to build a box properly, it's a science, not just carpentry as anyone can cut 6 pieces of wood and make a box, but a pro will make a "cabinet".
You can find some deals on e-bay though such as a Resonant Engineering SX 15" 1000WRMS, or check out Fiaudio.com for some good deals.
edit: And the suggestion above is apparently an amazing woofer too, but you would have to watch your volume knob with your amp.

That amp has 70a worth of fusing. So, it'll only produce in between 500-650watts RMS bridged into a 4ohm load.

Lanzar, from what i've seen (i've owned one myself), inflate their power ratings pretty badly. I mean, 650watts from an amp that claims 3300watts -come on!

I don't think that sub (Tempest) would be a good match for 2 reasons. 1) The sub is very power-hungry, so 500watts won't do it any justice. 2) The sub requires a huge enclosure, so it's usually not a great choice for car-audio.

ok heres a reply to everyone.  ALPINE GUY my step brother actually knows ohms law and wave length and soundwaves and what not. and i know for a fact that you can make a crappy woofer sound awesome with a bad *** box. but ill look into the re and fi audio. thanks!  JMELTON, what is the formula for the wattage? i used to know it but i forgot, i know its like amps times watts divided by somthin or another. lol but here me out. i had a crappy boss 800 rms amp to a kicker l5 12 inch rated at 600 rms and i liked the way that sounds believe it or not. so do you think an L7 15 inch would be too hard on the amp if i bridged it and turned the gain up half way on each channel????

Fusing (70) times voltage (14.4) times efficiency (.5 - .65).

For 50% efficiency; 70 x 14.4 = 1008 x .5 = 504watts RMS bridged @ 4ohms.

For 65% efficiency; 70 x 14.4 = 1008 x .65 = 655.2watts RMS bridged @ 4ohms.

This is why I said in between 500-650watts.

ok what if i put a bigger fuse in there? will that amplify the amps power rating a little?

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's a good way to set your car on fire.

well isnt a fuses purpose to limit and control the power so to speak, small fuses blow faster but bigger ones handle more power comin through right? so if i added like 2 40 amp fuses instead of two 35 amp fuses that would be real bad???

Fuse - A device that protects electric circuits by interrupting power in a circuit when an overload occurs.

Your amp won't draw more power with bigger fuses, it just won't have the protection it needs.

Anyone with more experience, please correct me if I'm off base here.
