Hello, I have a 07 Dodge ram with the standard factory radio as of right now in the truck. The height  of the radio opening is 3.5' the after market radio im putting is also 3.5" now here is the catch. Its a flip open face radio. I need a little spacing like maybe 1/8" on the lower part of the radio bezel, in order to clear the flip down function. Whats the best way to trim the dash bezel and still keep it looking factory and not chopped up. Any help would be appreciative or suggestions..

Thanks

Ron

Parts Department of the Dodge Dealership will sell you the bezel from a truck that has factory navigation, for like 70 bucks. The factory nav unit is a true double din radio. A Double Din unit is 4 inches tall. What kind of deck are you installing that is 3.5 inches?
It requires a different kit also.

The Navigation bezel from dodge is to big for what i want to work with, but if i have to then thats the route i will go, here is some photos on what im looking at doing. As far as the radio its a eclipse 5500 (see Photo below) I would like to get just a little room from the bottom to allow movement of the face plate with no obstructions. The Sides of the Factory Bezel has good clearance so far.

Take out the grinder and grind away 1/8" and then feather the edges. You may have to use some body filler to get the smooth look again but if you use a high grit disc, you may be able to get away with just grinding without having to bondo.

i did a double in my old manager's mega cab, but he wanted it to be more centered on the panel.. he felt the extra pocket was just a waste of space. couldn't argue with that, so cutting and filling was in order...

for what you're doing, a simple filing around the edges shouldn't be a big deal.. just mark out a line with a sharpie and a straightedge and you should be fine. i'd just recommend a good set of small files to get the corners nice and clean. maybe even give it a bit of a roundover like the factory opening?

just make sure you epoxy your wings in first..

sweetest system ever..

funny thing is the OEM dodge bezel is centered and eliminates the pocket.

I wonder how much time and materials were used to make it like the OEM one?
