Ok i am surrounded everyday by a bunch of guys who play with their car stereos 24/7. But the rules are they cant help me! So im on my own with my car stereo everything. I really want to learn to do it all myself so its ok. I guess i am looking for as much help as i can get. I will list what i have going on and any input is greatly appreciated. I am currently looking to buy an amp and would like to know which one would be best. Thank u:)

In order to help you decide on an amp, we need to know more about your woofers. How many connectors do they have on each woofer? There should be a positive and a negative terminal in one spot or a positive and a negative on each side of the magnet. Do you have one set or 2 sets?   We also need to know the impedance of the woofer. This will be either 2, 4, or 8 Ohms.

Hey, let's not be condescending here. I'm gonna assume you know enough to get you here on your own so you probably have already seen the rules, right? First off, Infinity kappas are a good start, but what model numbers are they? Also, what are your goals? Knock your socks off clean or knock'em into next week loud? You lookin to amp both your mids and highs or just your subs? BTW, girl installers are great. I've had one before and just got a new one today. Both very attentive to detail, which I prefer.

Gee.  THIS thread got some interest.     hi, im a girl, i heart bass -- posted image.

laybayz, you didn't say how long you've been lurking this forum and I don't know if you have read anything posted yet (Doh!, just looked at your profile and you've been a member for a whole DAY), but the site itself has a lot of information to keep you busy for awhile.  Read some of the sticky threads in this forum, starting with How To Choose an Amplifier.  Your sound system should come together after lots of time and effort;  you'll not only be proud to show it off but you'll also be able to field any questions people ask about it.  Good luck.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Ive had a few systems in my civic befor and so ive heard sevearly loud and loud and clean(bostons). And i know i am going for a clean system. I have never ran anything but my subs from an amp so i probably wont start now since my deck seems to be gettin it done pushing my highs and mids. My trunk is just so sad without its bass right now:(

You should be shopping for one of two types of amplifier.

(1) mono subwoofer amplifier designed and engineered to produce maximum output at 1 ohm. <------- important.

(2) 2 channel amplifier that can be "bridged" to 1 channel for maximum output at 4 ohms. 99.99% of 2 channel amplifiers are capable of doing this.

Once you add a amplifier to the sub system, you are going to have bass overload in that little car. This will place additional strain on the remainder of the speakers that you currently are listening to in the form of "I need to turn the volume up higher so the speakers can keep up with the bass". Keep the option open of adding a additional 4 channel amplifier to help out the existing front and rear speakers when the time comes.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

What model alpine you got? If it has built-in crossovers, it will help you run a decent budget system for the time being while you shop for a good 4-channel. Like Forbidden said before me, a good choice to go with is something that maxes out at 4 ohms. Though a great class d would do a hella job at 1ohm. As far as clean, you may look towards a sealed enclosure, though a well built and properly tuned vented box will produce a great sound as well. Overall, your preferences are what determines what we suggest. A budget cap would help narrow down the field for you.
boosh!!
