JL. End of story. A very SQ aligned woofer, with plenty of output on tap.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

MTX all the way, i ran 2 MTX T8000 in a sound comp a few years back, and i won first place, with only 500 watt pumpin them. killer subs. JL however r great subs, but best suted for someone who has a lot of money and wants the better sq application. both beadly subs, go to www.mtx.com and check out there poll/testing on both subs, and go to the www.jlaudio.com site and check out there lack of competation stats and you pick. just a lil insider note, MTX own RF, Bostin, MTX, i herd they own shares in JBL, all i know is MTX owns about 80% of the aoutomotive electronics industry, they take the best quilities outa each outfit, and incorperate them into there subs. JL audio however has been producing low input, hi output applications for a long time, but you need more money to get the same output as a SLP MTX application would need. basically what i am trying to say is, i like JL speakers more then MTX speakers, but mtx subs and amp more then JL. better bang for your buck, a lot louder bang at that too. chow.

what you think i lie, i am in the business, i sold and installed many of both. and me and my boss do reserch, and okay maybe not 80% but i do know they own most of the industry, they just dont flaunt it. they know there good, why make such a big deal about it. and think about it not till 2 years ago MTX only did car audio, 2 years ago when they bought a few companies they started making marrine and home audio. its simple and logical, why would they buy a place and not use there best stuff in all of there equipment.

If you are planning on going into SPL competition then you shouldn't use either of these...

To answer your question - JL is FAR superior. Both in output and sound quality.

Do whatever makes you happy in life without diminishing the happiness of others
