i have an 04 accord coupe v6 6speed.

i installed the viper 5900 in my car about 2 months ago. every now & then, when i either remote start it or hit unlock/disarm on the VIPER 2way remote, the factory alarm will start going off (horn honking, headlight flashing)

if i remote start it while its armed and it starts doing this, i hit the remote start (* button) again and it will shut down and the oem alarm will stop panicking as well.

if i disarm it (not remote start it) with the viper remote, sometimes the oem alarm goes off as well, if i try hitting disarm on the viper remote again, nothing happens, only if i hit unlock/disarm on the factory keyfob it stops

i did hook up the factory arm/factory disarm wires from the viper alarm to the factory alarm wires (inside drivers door)

sometimes i can go a week without it doing it. sometimes it will do it right after.

it happened today on the way to work. at work i disarmed to open the door, it did it again.

do i need to use a bitwriter and go into programming-if i do, what settings do i need to change?

or what else can be done?

I recommend using a relay to give a solid ground to that disarm wire on the accord.  It may not get a consistent signal by just simply using the disarm wire on the viper.

Ditto on the relay use - the factory disarm wire on Accords takes a lot of current, and the alarm doesn't shut off with ignition either.

How do you have the relay connected?

I think what chris wallace meant was, you should use the light GREEN/ black factory alarm disarm of the 5900 to activate your relay - not the unlock wire. Also, make sure that you send a true ground, for example pin 30 to ground then pin 87 to the disarm wire in car.
Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.

I've always been hit or miss as well with Accords and that "blue" disarm wire in the door...

The extreme alternative is UNLOCK before starting and re-lock after start -- should be a selection in programming of the Viper

Too much ground (longer than 750ms) to that disarm wire and you'll unlock the doors.

I agree with the above, relay the -250mA disarm output to a relay with a good chassis ground connection -- try a separate ground site than the viper brain ground.

The search function is your friend.

slamdaccord, I was asking specifically where you have each terminal on the relay connected, and how(solder, butt connector, tape-n-twist, etc).

everything is soldered, taped & zip tied. my the ground is at a different ground (kick panel) and it's wired like BigDog said to do
