remote start dies - dei

I installed a new Matrix RS 3 today and almost everything is working fine. When I remote start the system it starts up fine but then immediately dies. The system trys to restart it 2 more times, but never stays running. I used to have a cheap remote start in the my truck, so I know which wires go where in the ignition. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Tim 1998Dodge Ram

it sounds like a tach problem. did you learn the tach signal?

Your truck is shutting off after a few second because the remote starter is unable to determine if the truck is running. Right now you have the RS in what is called "Voltage sensing Mode" where the unit monitors the power wires in the ignition harness and looks for the junp in voltage when the alternator kicks in. However, it is unable to get a good enough reading on your truck, which is very typical for Dodge vehicles. I have never installed a unit in a Dodge where I did not need a tach wire. I always use a tach wire anyway. So to answer your question: Yes you need to hook up a tach wire or your car will not stay running for more than three seconds.J Rilla

For my own knowledge (), could he actually have the remote starter programmed for tach by mistake?... and by not having the tach wire hooked up, it's dying?Q: What's the best nation in the world?

Not likely since you need to set the dipswitches for tach mode and then learn the tach signal. J Rilla
