I am wondering what is the best direction to fire a subwoofer in a trunk for the best sound quality?

I just watched a  how-to dvd and they say fire it into the rear corner, but i have seen others say fire it directly  to the rear of the car....

Whats the best? I will be getting a JL 10w6v2 soon so im planning ahead of time

I always do mines to the rear. I face them to the front once and it sucked bad

that is all personal preference, face the sub in different directions, in passenger corner, in driver side corner, towards taillights 3 inches away, towards tailights 6 inches away, towards backseat, just try several locations and choose the one you like the best.

For sound quality, I would HIGHLY recommend facing them forward. This way, you end up with a minimum of "trunk gain", and the response you hear will be the response the woofer is producing.
Otherwise, wherever it sounds best to you.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

It's all personal preference and every vehicle is different. A system in a hatchback will sound different then an identical system in a coupe. Having the windows down will also affect how it sounds (because with them down you've just opened 2 "ports" in what was essently a "sealed" environment).
Play around with the location until you find one that suites your taste.
