I want to wire my cab mounted emergency light bar to my battery or a relay and not use the cigeret lighter in my truck to power it.  How do I utilize a starter type relay to do this  1998 ford ranger 6 cyl pickup truck.  light bar is 12 volt of course

Use this idea:

new power source for emergency lights -- posted image.

Connect emergency light to pin 30.

Connect a switch to pin 86. The other wire of the switch to ground.

Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.
