got some 6.5 alpine type s components and constructed some tweeter pods out of resin and panty hose (hey they worked). they came out good but of course there are a few imperfections. what would i have to put on the build after i sand it smooth to make paint adhere to it. someone told me just some plastic primer, but i want something to fill in the uneven spots so it can b smooth.

Use body filler to smooth out the dips or use short strand fiberglass to build strength in the pillar & smooth out the dips. The plastic primer only works with plastic and also is used prior to the final paint.

i think i'll go with body filler since this is my first project. so fill in dips with filler, then sand, then paint?
