I have the older Viper 591XV remote start unit. While I think the range is already good, I would still prefer to upgrade the range closer to that of the newer 5500 SST- advertised as 1 mile.
The greatest benefit would be increased 2 way paging feedback on any alerts.
Can the "XHF2 Super 2-Way Dipole Mini Antenna" from the 5500 SST simply be swapped for my antenna. Plug-n-play or would I need to swap more- like the remote to increase the range of my 591XV?
Who here can answer this?

you would need to replace the brain and the antenna and cable, 591xv doesn't have the 2 way function

591XV is a responder, so it is a 2 way. Unfortunately, you cannot just change the antenna and make it an SST 2way unit. The SST antenna requires more current than the 591 antenna, so would also need to change the main brain to that of a 5500. And the remote is different as well. Otherwise, it IS a 5min swap........

591XV is a 2-way system with remote start. Thanks!

I was afraid that I would have to change the brain. Hoping to just swapping the antenna and the remote since they look identical.
Either way, I think finding a solo 5500 SST brain for a reasonable price is a deal-breaker. upgrade range of viper 591xv with antenna -- posted image.

Just buy the entire 5500. Easy swap as you already have a 591 in there. Then sell your 591 to a buddy.
Easy.
