I'm puting in a alarm in a BOAT.  I'm trying to hook up the parking light flash to the nav/anc light.  When you turn the switch on it sends 12 v through the gray wire and the black wire is the neg.  When the switch is off it kicks BOTH wires to neg.  So when you hit the alarm it blows the fuse since its sending 12v to ground.  Can i just cut the wire coming out of the computer and put a diode in line?  Wouldn't that keep it from going back to ground?  What size of diode would I need?  I see most are 1 amp.  The power going to them is 15 amp.  So How do I get them to flow 15 amps so the lights will work the same.

Thanks SO MUCH for your time.

Shawn

Don't worry texoma, we all have brain fade occasionaly, Kar Tune man in your new job, you should be selling (and installing the things), google earth to Antibes Marina in the south of France and you will see why boats need alarms! Yes the answer is using  a relay as an interrrupt, 87a to switch, 87 and 86 as fused pos, 85 as neg trigger and 30 as output.

Sad to say, Cabelas has all of the install pro's they need.... I guess. They know what I do, and they know I want to..... so we'll see.

I'm in the "auto/atv" dept.  Plenty to sell, NOTHING to install.alarm in a boat -- posted image.
