I know I know, I need to here these and decide for myself, but that aside, has anyone heard MB Quarts 2008 model premium component set? Is MB Quart still the reasonably high end speaker as they have been in the past? or is there quality slipping a bit? any info on these speakers would be greatly appreciated!, thank you in advance!

Now I could be talking out of my butt here but as far as I know they are not what they used to be at all. I did like there old stuff it was just out of my price range back when I was in high school. But hey who am I to say if you like they way they sound that all that is really important but I am thinking you should look at something else. It seems like a lot of the high end audio company's are just not what they used to be it's kinda sad.

I have a pair of mb quarts components is my truck and they are the best speakers i have ever had, they sound very clean and they can take massive amouts of power. as far as im concerned they are better now than they used to be, mb quarts is now owned by maxxsonics who makes autotek, hifonics, and crunch. which is some of the best car audio equipment out there  in my opinion.

None of these brands are what they once were. The fact Maxxsonics owns any of them is a sign that the names were bought, not the quality or design. Same with the crap Directed owns: Orion, PPi, etc . . .
Take a Hifonics Series 7 or 8 against any of the new stuff and the results will be very clear. No where near the quality.
The Quart metal tweets are a bit harsh, The mids are smooth and a bit light in the midbass from my experience. Quart went from German owned to Rockford and now to Maxx. Better stuff out there.

Maxxsonics = low end.  MB Quart are still decent quality, but they are 100% sourced from China now and no longer have any connection to the German designers who made the name famous.  I no longer recommend them.

What are you, the Maxxsonics distributor?  mb quart pvi216 6.5 components - Last Post -- posted image.  Using names like Autotek and Crunch and Hifonics in the same sentence as the word "best" is a contradiction in terms.

I thought I remembered reading that before, as I said before it's a shame the really good companys have fallen to the wayside and no longer have a well respected name anymore.

My "best" list:
Zapco, Tru, Arc, Genesis, Audison, Seas, Brax, Eclipse, Hertz, McIntosh and Alpine. JL, RE and Kicker if matched with the right application.
Rumor has it Image Dynamics has moved production offshore. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, Image Dynamics sources their products from China, although I believe they are still designed in the USA.  Almost all loudspeaker manufacturers either build in China or build their drivers with parts from China.  In fact, I'd estimate that nearly 100% of all loudspeaker magnets used by any manufacturer anywhere in the world right now uses Chinese-built magnet assemblies, and many other parts too.
