i agree with everything that has been said. The only thing i dont do is tape up the wires. Although it works very well, it makes further work/diagnosing to be a royal pita. However you dont want to leave the wires exposed either. What I usually do is use properly sized plastic loom (I always make sure I have multiple sizes/diameters in stock). this way it makes everything very neat, but it also allows for easy removal for diagnosing purposes.
