i was driving through my neighborhood the other night, and man did i find something.
i noticed some speaker cabinets. they were large big heavy ass cabinets.
they turned out to be a set of AR-2ax. (Acoustic Research)

the ones i found are in great condition. i found that the controls on the back went bad. only the woofer was working. so i opened em up and bypassed them cause im using them with my Pioneer VSX-D307 with the signal from my computer, so i can equalize it.
man do these speakers sound nice! even for 20+ years old.

My dad used to have a pair of those.  He bought them brand new for IIRC $1200.  Although I believe that was closer to 30+ years ago. Unfortunately he once had a teenage son that found the bass boost.  good find in the trash - Last Post -- posted image.

haha, yea they put out some clean sounding bass, but i really am weary about over powering them cause they are so old, and i think the woofer surrounds are made of some sort of cloth.
