Ok...I'd suggest you go through the programming procedure again, and if that doesn't work try using one of the uncommon fuel injector wires as your tach source. Scytek's tach sensing will work with an injector pretty well. As far as programming tach it's pretty simple. I can't remember how the manual words it but basically the following steps. 1. Turn ignition on with key. 2. Press valet switch 5 times. 3. Start car with key. 4. Press valet switch 13 or 17 or how ever many times it takes to get to the tach option. The important thing here is that the status LED must be flashing at this point(the Astra will do that when it is at the proper programming point and it is sensing a valid tach signal. 5. Press the "lock" button on the remote. If you can go all the way through the programming options with the engine running and never see a flashing LED, chances are your tach signal wire is the problem.C Renner's Auto Electronix
