2004 expedition keysense?

Hi all, I'm having the darndest time with the remote start on a 2004 Ford Expedition eddie bauer, using a Viper 5701 and PK04 PKFORD bypass.  The bypass seems to work ok - minus keysense.  When I remote start, the truck's security light goes solid instead blinking, which I believe means I programmed the bypass properly, but the start never engages.  If I stick anything in the ignition keyhole, like a random key or a screwdriver, the truck will remote start.  I don't have to use a PATS key - sticking my house key in the cylinder just enough for the ignition to realize something's there gets me a remote start every time.

I've tried adding a relay to the transmit of my bypass - no luck - I think that

I know that the BLACK/ pink wire at the ignition is keysense - or at least that's what I've read, but when I use the Viper's blue remote starter output designated for keysense, nothing dfferent happens - the start won't engage.  Has anyone seen this problem, or can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?

My multimeter is lost, will buy another one at some point.

Thanks!

I believe the the keysense on that truck is a positive, not negative. The output on the RS is neg. Since the truck only has one ignition i use the second ignition output on the RS to power it up....

Thanks for the input guys, that valuable information.

I just tried using my Viper's flex ign2/acc2/starter2 wire on the BLACK/ pink oem wire at the ignition harness, and no go.  I programmed the wire as ign2, no go, then acc2, no go.  With those configs, the Viper actually only remote starts if I put my key in AND I turn it to the ACC ON position.

I'm wired up just like Bulldog Security suggests:

12 VOLT CONSTANT   LIGHT GREEN/ PURPLE (+)    IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

STARTER  RED / LIGHT BLUE (+)   IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS
IGNITION 1  BLUE/LIGHT GREEN (+)  IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS
ACCESSORY /HEATER BLOWER 1  BLACK/ LIGHT GREEN (+)   IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

Plus now I have my alarm's 2nd ignition/acc/starter on the BLACK/ PINK keysense oem wire.  I'm confident that my remote start bypass is ok, since the security light comes on solid, and in certain configs I just need to trigger the keysense by barely sticking a screwdriver in the ignition.  Am I missing a relay or something simple?

Thanks!

The light on solid is good. I've done a hundred of these trucks, keysense really isn't needed. All that should be needed is power, ignition and bypass to start that truck. Recheck your connections, chaeck the RS output with a DVM...

Thanks Mike, that's reassuring. I just found my voltmeter, will test out this weekend.

You were right, I just needed to use power and ignition on the truck, with the PK04 - no keysense needed.  I just had to add the RED / black heavy gauge from the Viper to constant power, that's it.  The purple start wire on the Viper wouldn't get any power during starts otherwise.

Thanks!
