you still haven't answered what enclosure...my guess is crappy too small tuned too high prefabs.

the enclosure is 1.69 cuft.  and is ported.

I still don't understand what you mean by "not hitting all notes."  Is it cutting in and out?  Is it simply not playing sounds that you know are there?  Is it making strange noises instead of tones?  What?

Mostly on the lows it doesn't hit at all. the sub barely moves.  it hits the highs fine and some mid bass, but the lows blow.

and also while listening to it, the sub gives off a burning smell from time to time.  is this beacuse its new?

Does your amp have a low pass filter?  Where is it set?  Does it have a subsonic filter?  Where is it set?  As far as a burning smell, no this is never good and often indicates the amp is clipping.  Did you set your gain properly?

I bet it's a DVC and the coils are paralleled out of phase.

It's probably a prefab that is tuned too high...

well he states that the sub barely moves and that he's smelling burnt coils.  Definitely the voice coils wired out of phase.
