Hi, Today I tried installing Viper 579XV RS with DEI bypass module 556u on a '07 Camry and I'm unsure where the blue wire from bypass gets conected to -manual says it should be connected to status output from remote start, but once again  I'm unsure what wire is this- I will be using my valet key.

Can I bypass transponder without using a DEI 556U module? I have seen some shops using just what looks like a diode to bypass transponder.

Thank you in advance for all your assistance.

Blue wire from alarm marked "status output" which should be obvious. You will also need to connect this to the key sense wire which is if I remember a BLACK / YELLOW coming from a plug on the ignition barrel and this wire goes to ground when the key is inserted. Your tach is either a black with silver dots on the OBD II socket under dash, one of the injector port wires, not the common  colour or on some Toyota/ Lexus there is a black box on one of the wheel arches, inside is a RED / black (?) loop, it's the only one like it. Sorry I can't be more precise but this vehicle like the Maxxima has been off the UK market for some years, murdered by too many BMWs ,Audis and M/B. I've based this on previous Toyota/Lexus knowledge because they are generally pretty logical and don't change their circuits or colour codes without reason.

Just looked at the diagramme, that blue wire is on the satt. loom you wil have to break out the cable from the loom and join to the key sense and the 556U using diodes on each line with the bands pointing towards the join part.  Use 1n4004 or upwards.

The by-pass via a "diode" is actually a resistor and it refers to GM pass-locks used in the 90s.

You really only need to diode the keysense wire, not both, band towards the RS....

i have never hooked up keysense for a 556U on a Toyota  and i've done a couple hundred with no issues....   toyotas and Lexi are not fussy about seeing 2 keys... you do need to hook up 2nd Status to keysense on the car to shut down the OEM alarm... but you needn't worry about keysense on the 556U....

Is there a way to test if the BLACK / YELLOW wire is key sense wire, or can some one confirm is this wire is the correct one. I just do not want to mess something up in my car. Thank you guys for your input, I really appreciate it!

I hate to say this but if you don't know how to test a wire that goes to ground you shouldn't even be attempting this job, thank goodness for liability waivers. Take a DMM preferentially one with a continuity buzzer.  Place one terminal to ground and placing meter's range to either low ohms or continuity, place other end to cable plug at end of lead coming from ign. switch barrel this plug should be 2 or 3 way. insert key. The correct lead will buzz or show under 1ohm when key inserted. Old school method... take one Snap-On or similar bulb test lead, hook croc clip onto 12V perm, probe with other end, surprise surprise if lead is correct tester light will glow when key in if you have correct lead. For your future reference, even when we know what to look for, pros test beforehand and that saves you time heartache and money.

1. I strongly agree with howie II. If you're not equipped to test every wire in the car before making a connection to it, you're not ready to be doing installations yet.
2. What trimline of Camry is it? Only the XLE has a factory alarm. No need for keysense on CE, LE, or SE.
3. Have you looked through the Viper's install manual? There is a wire in there labeled "status." It's either blue or blue/black, I always forget.
4. The 556U consists of simply a relay(s), plastic casing, and wire. It's possible to make your own bypass with a spare key, scrap wire, electrical tape, and a relay. But if you've already bought the 556U (and can't return it), it's easier to just use what you have.

I have done other  rs/security system installs, but never had the opportunity to use a bypass module, that's why I'm  a little confused...Anyways the car I'm working on is a '07 Camry LE... I 've checked the installation guide and yes the status wire in the brain of the main unit is blue.

Thank you all for your feedback, it has been very helpful!
