I have an 2002 Grand Prix GTP. Recently I had Prestige xro9100 installed and it worked well for about a week. The remotes stopped responding to the unit, so I had to override the system using the valet switch. The valet switch only allowed me to disarm and start the car, but the 2 way remote(XRO-92) still displays that the system it is "armed", also my range indicator is not showing up on the remote even when I'm well within range of the car. I tried reprogramming both remotes several times, still nothing, both inop. The remote tells me "incorrect text or out of range" every time. I think the antenna from the alarm unit may be bad. The remote crossed my mind at first, but I can't see how both could go bad at the same time. Tech Assistance wasn't that much help, they want me to send the whole unit back. If I can narrow which component is bad, I'd rather do that to prevent ripping out the whole unit. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this problem?

If you had it installed by a shop, they should look at it and diagnose the issue for you.
If not, I would pull the unit, antenna, antenna wire and the remotes - take them to the distributor/dealer that you bought them from and they should replace them.
Last resort is to send the items to Prestige/Audiovox.
Any way you do it, Audiovox is really good about warranty issues.

The unit was bought online, so I want to avoid ripping out all the wiring and only return the defective components. The only thing the installer did was tried to reprogram the remote. He said he could troubleshoot the system because he didn't carry that model in the shop. I just found out that any 900 MHz, with a mile range remotes should be interchangeable with my unit, so we can check and eliminate that as being a possibility at least. I call Audiovox about returning the unit and they wanted me to send them a copy of title, along with the unit for verification purposes. I thought that was a bid odd and was having second thoughts about sending it in. Is that even legal for them to ask for that? Anyway, thanks for the response. I will be sending the antenna, remotes and the modules back to Audiovox for replacement.

Common problem with both the srt9000 piece and it's audiovox partner.... remote and possibly even the antenna will need to be swapped....  Something with the software of the remotes cause them to lose programming... Audiovox/Code Alarm is aware of issue.. make sure that new remote has a bright yellow 08 on back when swapped... this is latest revision and should cure issue...
there can be only one.......
