Anyone know a good site for information on modding amps?
Also, what is a good site for amp parts?

I am using an alpine mrd-m1000 and i have heard that it is possible to mod an amp to get more power out of it(dropping the resistance). In my case the amp is a 2ohm max and i need it to drop to .5ohms. I think, if that is even possible, that i will pull about 3500-4000wrms if the ohms to wrms follows suite.
Even possible?

Dude... I love Jesus too....modifying amplifiers -- posted image.

Why do you want to modify a perfectly operating amp?

Would it not be easier to simply purchase an amp that meets your needs to start with??

Just wondering....

Not gonna happen. At least not for less than it would cost you to buy an amp with the desired characteristics in the first place.
Seriously. To make a 2 ohm stable amplifier capable of running a .5 ohm load, you have to beef the power supply to make 4 TIMES the current. This means FAR more parts (4 times the number, at the same current capacity), number-wise, or far more EXPENSIVE parts, current wise. You have to either change the switching frequency of the power supply and/or beef the toroid. You have to consider the outputs, as well. They will be subject to 4 times their originally designed thermal load. The heat sink is designed to "blow off" X heat, effectively, now you want it to blow off 4 times as much!
You WILL be better off buying what you want to start with.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Think of the amp design as a huge stack of dominoes.  Change one to do something different and you subsequently have to change the rest down the road to give you the desired effect.

Aw common man, don't exaggerate!  You know it would last a millisecond!
