I looked up the sheet in the 12volts database and it did not say if a module was required for either locks or an immobilizer.

As A back up I always search the forum and I see a lot of posts for people using modules. Do I need them or are people just using them to simplify installation?

Yes, 455T from DEI is required for the door lock operation. Also, you'll need an immobilizer bypass if the plastic on your key is grey. If it's black, then no immobilizer bypass is required, but you will still need the door lock interface for keyless entry.

98 Grand will most certainly have immobilizer, as well as the lock bypass. You CAN get away without the lock bypass, but will need to go into the driver's door to do the locks and it's a pain in the butt, just buy the bypasses

'98 will NOT have an immobilizer. '99 and up started with that.
