I just installed an Avital AviStart 4103 in my father's 1998 Nissan Altima GXE. I installed the wires all per instructions and hooked up the pink/white (2nd Ignition or Accessory Wire) to the 2nd Ignition Wire in the car. It wouldn't start without it hooked up. Now when I put the key in and turn it to the 1st click, the starter grinds. Why is this happening? Is my only option to install a Relay? Would this relay double as a starter kill? If I need to install the relay, how would I hook it up?
Thanks,
Nick

wire up an anit-grind relay (starter kill) and all will be well.
Those vehicles in the first accessory position make contact to the ign and starter 1 positions.

did you hook up both starter wires? some nissan vehicles will start with just the main starter wire but grind when you turn the key because the 2nd wire is then engaging the starter again. its black with a blue stripe in that vehicle

Yep, I had to connect the BLACK/ Blue wire to the 2nd Ignition wire because I forgot to at first and it would only crank... Wouldn't start at all until I hooked it up...

if you have the black blue hooked to your second ignition from the remote start thats more than likely your problem. the 2nd starter wire should only be powered during crank just like the main starter wire. i usually use relay and tap off of the starter output of the remote start to trigger it.

u can also use the purple wire (-) in the small 4 pin harness to trigger the relay. whichevers easier for you
