'99 gmc sierra 3500 diesel r/s problem

hey guys.. 

what am i missing here? i just installed a remote start, i know theres some kind of security system on this thing but the keys are plain jane, no resistor, no chip.. nothing..  

im getting a security light that flashes when i attempt a remote start, i cant seem to find a diagram for this perticular truck, so im using a similiar GM diesel, i.e suberban, or chevy truck and it tells me to go to the BCM, but.. the BCM is not located anywhere nar the spot the diagrams are reffering to, actually, i have to drop the column to get to it...

any ideas?

can someone verify if this truck has a vats system in it,  i did an install in another 99 that had a 454 gas engine in may that did NOT have a vats system..
