Can someone explain what I need to remove to replace the factory subs for 6x9's on a Pontiac G8?

You have factory subs and you are wanting to take them out and put 6X9s in their place?   If so where are you going to get full range audio to power them?

why not just add a REAL amp/sub and get more and better bass?

I figure it out...i have a 8" subwoofer so I will use a pair of 6x8 speakers and put 2 10's woofers in a box in the trunk.The source is coming from the input to the sub amp in the rear via a converter

Have you checked the signal going into the sub amp to see if it is full range?  Hate to see you connect a full range speaker to a crossed over wire, and have less bass than you did before, and achieve nothing to help your top end.
