2005 Chevy Impala (Base Model)

In attempting to wire up a toggle switch for all my Volly Fire lights, I wanted to test my wiring job.  So, I quickly attached a cigarette lighter plug and plugged it in.   I popped what I thought was a fuse, but after pulling the C/L ACC fuse, I find it is still good.  I checked the fuse with continuity check.  I tested the box socket, no juice.   All the other items in this fuse box are working.

I checked the fuses under the hood also.  All good.

This is very frustrating since I realize what caused the short in the first place, but now I cannot fuse tap the ACC fuse socket to wire up my hillbilly lights!  And, worse; I cannot use my GPS or cell phone charger!  Very annoying.

I wish I hadn't started the project.

Thanks for your help in troubleshooting the CigLighterPlug...

if you dont have a meter to test the actual wires going to the socket (a test light is ok to use if you are sure the wires go to the socket) then get a flashlight and look inside the socket. at the very bottom make sure the middle contact is visible. you may have just created such a large spark that it blackened the contact with so much carbon that the current cant flow by. use a pick to scrape it off and some contact cleaner wouldnt hurt. replace the fuse and see what happens. Good luck. Also, if you didnt actually test the fuse with a meter or light the first time, try replacing it with a new one anyway. sometimes your eyes cant see where it blew.
