My 07 Milan has the 8 speaker Audiophile system that has 5x7 factory components in the front doors.I want to replace them, but i'm not sure if i should stick with 5x7 components or change them to 6 1/2" components?

It is personal preference really.  I would suggest going to the store and listening to the 2 different type of components, seeing what one sounds the best to you and then making a decision.  If you go with the 6.5 you might have to do some mods to get them to fit, but the 5*7 should drop right into the factory opening, thats also something to consider...

The 6 1/2's come with the adapter rings to make em fit.

In that case just listen to them and see what ones you like better.  Everyone hears different what i might think sounds great you may think sounds horrible..

personally i dont like those plastic size adapters, too flimsy for me. i used some 1/2 inch mdf to make an adapter for my ranger's 5x7's when i got components

I did the same.  I made a plate from 1/2 inch and put 2 6.5's woofers in my front doors of my 08 ranger.   Ive had 5x7 in the past and i just prefer the sound of a round speaker.
