Hello, I am installing a ARC audio KS-125.2 mini amp on my Harley Streetglide. I need to purchase power cable and the chart provided on this site is calling for in between 10 and 8 ga. The amp is rated at 125 x 2 at 2 ohms and 70 x 2 at 4ohm. Do to the tight installation space on a motorcycle I would like to use the smallest wire possible while still getting good results. The distance from the battery to the amp is approx. 4 feet. Can I get away with 10 ga ?

If it says 8 gauge then thats what you should use. When you run a smaller wire than you should, your risking of burning up your amp or even setting the power wire on fire. Now im not recommending this but if you WERE to use 10 gauge, id make sure you get a higher end wire from a car audio store and not some cheap thing you can get at your local radio shack or hardware store. The more strands that are in the wire, the better. Also make sure you have an inline fuse in the power wire between the amp and battery no matter what gauge you are gonna use. Being that its only 4ft, you probly could get away with it as song as its a GOOD power wire but as i stated earlier your putting your amp at risk.

In the install manual for that amp it says that for a run of 4-7 feet, 10AWG wire is acceptable. I think you'd be fine for such a short length of wire

The manual that came with my amp says 8 ga. I think since it is only 4 feet I should be fine with 10 ga. Unless I hear otherwise.
