Hey all I have two type x 10 subs and 2 kicker (remanufactured amps...sadly) 1000.1 i have a ported box I built my self and here is the problem

I had it wired to 2 ohms according to alpines manual for the amp with gain maybe at 2 or 3(no bass at 1) and it was getting really warm... sounded good and loud and clear then they cut out i get a beeeeeep and the protection light came on... it does come back on as i have now wired it down to 8 ohm and with a temps gun hits around 190F while working good after being warmed up... is this to high and is the amps crap? I have another amp im going to try to see if its the same thing as i only have one amp and sub hooked up....

0ga power and ground

12-14 gauge amp to speakr(to small be the problem??)

wired in 2 or 8 ohms in 8 gain has to be half way up for it to sound right....??

any help is appreciated

So i have a kicker 1000.1 and a alpine type x actually two but one one set hooked up i have had 0 gauge wire for power in there barely and the amp has been running warm and overheated at 2 ohms.. them amp should handle that but i switched it 8 ohm and ran cooler but still overheated after normal usage... tonight i thought maybe a bad ground so i switched the ground over and amp wouldnt come on then i changed the ground wire to a smaller wire to fit in terminal better then turned it on amp came on popped then went into pretection then cut off and caught on fire along the heat sink.... any ideas?? i have another amp and sub i havent tried but im scared to burn that one too????

sub is dvc 4 ohms-can be wired 8 or 2 ohms

sub is kicker 1000.1 should be 2 ohm stable

wire between amp and speaker is around 10 gauge ??

any ides?

i am an idiot

The power supply of your amplifier is toast.  It was probably caused by shorted output transistors.  150 to 200 dollars to get it repaired.

Could be either one.  Was the amp new?

Yup, the amp being refurbed was more than likely the issue.

Refurbed when and where (by whome) ? Joes discount amp repair?
