doorlock wires 96 transport

I am having troubles finding the door lock wires... its a 96 pontiac transport. now wire reference says drivers kick panel is that actually behind the trim piece? because i checked all the connectors visible when sticking your head under the dash.

Yep, that's what it means by the kick panel. You must remove the panel....Mike M2

well i ended up going through the door grommet... i took off the trim piece in the kick panel... most often when the wire reference says kick panel... its not behind the trim piece in the kick panel. it is usually in close proximity to it.

sorry, i took off the trim piece in the kick panel and there were absolutely no wires... and the 10 pin connector was no where to be found

Look all over that general area. Even pull the carpet up if you have to. Some cars I found the wires actually behind the metal and they came out at the bottom into a plastic "loom" or "raceway" under the carpet up against the door jamb. I popped open the plastic cover and voila, a huge bundle of wires. But when running wires from an area like that, be sure to zip tie them securely so they wont get caught in the parking brake or hood release when you use them. Make sure theres plenty of room so the wire doeasnt get caught in it or anything. One of the first vehicles I ever did(like 15 years ago) I made that mistake and the wire got tagled and ripped when the parking brake was used a few times.
