Hi guys,

I screwed up really bad while installing a R/S in my 08 Ram. I hooked up to the wrong color wire on parking light switch. Now I don't have any lights!! The truck starts and runs but there is no dash lights, parking lights, fuel gauge doesn't work. Did I fry one of the BCM's? or is there a fuse? Do I need to take it in? Please help

I would just start bu checking all the fuses did you hit the negative parking light as positive ? or what did you hit as parking lighs what color wire ?

Yeah I hit the WHITE/ yellow at the switch, instead of the WHITE/ yellow + WHITE/ gray in the lower kick panel.

I checked the fuses around the hood.

Any suggestions???

can you still trigger the correct wires with 12v and get the lights to come on? if so you may have just fried the switch and may be able to just replace it. if not you have a bad fuse somewhere or possibly damaged the BCM.

Does anybody know where the fuse would be? I checked all of them under the hood. Does it only have one fuse box? The fuel gauge doesn't work either so I don't think it's the light switch.

You can put a resistor of 1130 ohms across the WHITE/ lt.green (1) and WHITE/ yellow (3) at the headlamp switch to see the headlamps would turn on. If the lights come on then the bcm is still probably alright.

You can disconnect the above mentioned wires from the switch, check the resistance values in all different positions ie : off, park & Head, you should have different readings, If you have none then most likely the headlamp switch is burnt out.

1. Open owner's manual, ascretain the location of all fuse box(es), and test all fuses.

With the ignition on, probe both sides of each fuse for power. It's not worth spending the time to remove each fuse and inspect it visually.

2. Disconnect the battery from the truck for a few minutes, and then reconnect it.

If 1 or 2 doesn't fix the problem, try what moonliter said, to see if maybe you're just burned out the light switch. That wouldn't even be too expensive.

But if the fuel gauge isn't working, it's probably more than just the switch.

The Dodge uses multiplex for the parking lights as well as the headlights... meaning no fuses. You probably burned a trace off the board on the headlight switch. If your good with boards and have a 15-30 watt solder, you can probably repair the burned trace on the board. If there's no burned traces on the board, then start looking elsewhere. Get a wire diagram from Mitchel and trace back the light circuit.

I had the same problem. I had to buy a new instrument cluster which cost an out the door total of $550.
