I have a 2003 honda accord that I have installed an Audiovox prestige remote starter, Model # APS-57a. Remote starter works, but the only problem that I am having is when the car is parked and the doors are locked. Customer starts the remote starter, the horn starts to blow, like it has triggered the car's alarm.

Does anyone have any pointers for me, it would be most helpful.

You already answered your own question! You are triggering the factory alarm when you use the RS, so you must disarm it beforehand. To do this you need to connect the pulse before start wire on the RS to the cars disarm wire, which is at the drivers door module(in the drivers door), white or BLACK/ red. Test this wire by turning the key in the drivers door cylinder. This will cure your problem...

ditto what Mike M2 said, and have fun running wire into the door. i've only had to do it once, but the molex plug in the door boot was smeared with something equivalent to massive amounts of vaseline

noticed that with hondas, its not rust proofing. they use it to prevent water seeping inside. its messy as hell to work with.

Go the passengerside fuse panel and grab the UNLOCK/DISARM wire instead. It's simpler and no need to go into the driver's side door and mess around with that stupid molex plug. You can also get the HOOD pin wire as well as the ARM/LOCK wire there too.

Jeff, I believe that you're referring to the passenger key cylinder wires and unless I'm mistaken they would only be usable on a '98-'02 Accords. I don't recall ever seeing an '03-up Accord that still had a passenger key cylinder.

BTW, could we have a poll as far as who absolutely hates Accord factory alarms?

Oopps, my bad. Your right..... the 03's you have to go into the doors or be lazy and use a interface module instead. That's what I would do. It only costs about $ 50 more than a bypass only, but saves you time, hair and stress 03 accord remote start issue -- posted image.

Where do you buy that stuff they use? I did my wife's Accord outside in 20 degree temp and that stuff is even nastier when almost frozen. I can only imagine the fun you could have with that stuff.....

Thank you for all of the advice, I ran the line to the module in the door, and it worked out great. I do agree that goop sucks. you would think they would not need the amount of that stuff that is there. Oh well, at least it was a learning experience for me.
