I have a portable DVD player hooked up in the car.  I have a PlayStation 2 (PS2) also, which shares the video screens with the DVD player.

I would like to be able to keep the DVD player/PS2 from cutting out when I start the car.  They are both on always live 12v, however, the voltage drops too low when I start the car, therefore, they cut out.  The kids get upset when they are in the middle of a video or game, and I have to stop the car and then start it again (getting gas, etc.)

I was thinking maybe a capacitor or a voltage regulator, but i have no idea what kind or capacity.

Thanks

Are they plugged in thru a lighter plug? possibly the plug drops voltage during crank and this is your issue. Leave the car riunning is another option...

No, it's tapped straight from the battery.  The entire voltage system, by automobile design, drops voltage until the alternator kicks in to supply electricity.  That's the way a car battery works, it drops voltage during starting and the alternator takes over once the car is running.

You can try another battery. Might help it out do the voltage does not drop to far. It might or might not work but I had the same problem when I had mine in my mini van and Thats is what I did. It worked for me and it might work for you. WHO KNOWS
