i was wondering if anyone would have any idea how to stop all my lights in my car from dimming from my system. i have a full set up. i have 2 12" rockford fosgate punch p 3's running from a p1000 rockford fosgate amp. 500 rms watts each at 1 ohm stable. i have 4 kenwood door speakers and 4 kenwood tweeters running from a 400-4 channel rockford fosgate amp. at 4 ohm stable. all of which is running through a 2 farad hybrid rockford fosgate capasitor. i also have HID headlights which might be affecting it but i dont feel it would be doing that much. i have redone all my grounds and power wires. and im kinda lost. any information would be greatly appreciated.

Have you done the big 3? Also what size wire did you uprage on the whole system?

Pretty much the standard cause of dimming lights: not enough power production. As said above, upgrade the wiring first as well as ground connections, then proceed to alternator upgrade. Read through the very good sticky posts above.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

thanks, i went out and bought all new wire i had 8 guage. i got a whole 4 guage set up. for both my amps and my cap. and im going to not use my distribution box after the cap im going to run it straight so it doesnt split the power. ill let you know how it goes. thank again

well i hooked up the system with the 4 guage set up. and nothing changed. i had it on for about 20 seconds. the cap was dropping down to 11. 4 or so and then it just shut off. i blew the in line fuse coming from the battery. for about the 4th time in a week. couple of 60 and a few 80 amp fuses. anyone know why i could be blowing all these fuses and why the cap just doesnt seem to work?

A Cap will not help you in this situation. Not sure who suggested the idea, but it wasn't good advise Eliminate it or understand it will do little to nothing to help you. Read the multiple posts on the subject.

As Voltage decreases, Amperage increases. Your voltage is dropping enough that your amps are sucking everything they can get. No matter what size wire, nothing will change. Your Alternator isn't big enough to keep up with demand. Until you install a larger Alt or reduce the load your problems will continue.

You need more alternator, that's the ONLY thing that's going to fix your issues.

no i just talked to ppl i know who know a good bit and looked stuff up online i dont like sales men. i do all my stuff myself so if anything its my fault. im going to upgrade my alternator but idk how big to go. im not planning on doing much more to my car that would effect it. so a good medium one would probably do i would say. feel free to let me know a certain brand or size i should get. thanks

If your looking for a high output alt then go with iraggi you can find them all over ebay and from my experiance and many others they make 1 of the best and reliable alts out there...
