I had a CodeAlarm  CA440SS installed in my van and when you put key in after it's running all accessories turn off until you put you're foot on the brake and wait about 3-5 seconds.  Is there any way to get around this so accesories stay on or is this something i have to live with.

Whatever he connected to the PURPLE / brown wire at the ignition switch wasn't necessary.
The tech sheets list a resistor to be connected to the PURPLE / brown, but the van will remote start and run just fine without it. If I were him, I would just disconnect whatever he put on there.
Or, as robertsc said, he could/should use the relay he's already using, but use it to also interrupt the car's PURPLE / brown wire during remote start, as follows:
85: ground-when-running from remote starter
86: fused constant power
87: appropriate resistor, with other end of resistor connected to ground
------CUT CAR'S PURPLE / BROWN WIRE IN HALF-----
87a: key side of PURPLE / brown
30: body side of PURPLE / brown
