I'm trying to squeeze a double din radio into the dash of an 01 suburban originally equipped with a 1 1/2 din factory radio. 03 and newer have double dins in the dash. Has anyone ever converted the dash in one of these trucksto double din? If so, any tips?

If your good with glass you can cut it out to fit. I had a buddy that did his that way and looked great. Not sure there would be any other way but to do a custom piece.

go to a junk yard and get a new style dash bezel along with the back part and youll be able to do it with little cutting and no fab work...

Thats what I was pretty much thinking, to try and get some 03 or newer dash parts from the junkyard.

Take your dash bezel off and cut the divider out from between the radio opening and the heater control opening. Next you will need to cut away at the dash section of the vehicle. The top area above the factory radio needs to get cut away to provide enough clearance for the new double din unit. Finally take a standard fit kit for this vehicle and cut the top off of it. ISO mount the double din unit to the kit, snap the kit into the proper place and you should be good to go.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
