I've read the other posts that I could find on this alarm system, but so far nothing has worked.  I have a 97  Taurus with the 550hf in it.  It came with the car, and one remote for the security/remote start.  It worked fine until I lost the remote, I bought a new one and cannot for the life of me get it programmed.  I've tried all the different steps that I could find.  The only thing I can think it would be, is if i dont have the jumpers in the correct position, but I dont exactly understand the manual I have for it.  Any help would be greatly apreciated.  The remote I purchased is a V60, rpn485m, DEI's website says it is compatible.

I don't know about that one, but all of the Viper units i've ever put in are easy to program.  If you can find the valet/programming button, it should be simple.  You turn the key to the ON position and press the button once....press it again and hold it.  While holding it, press arm.  That should program it for standard configuration.
