Our 2001 toyota Corolla stock car alarm has gone faulty. The alarm goes off intermittently. How do I dissable the alarm, I know it's connected to the horn and I don't want to dissconnect the horns. and why does this happen?

Any info would be nice.

its probably a bad pin hood ,trunk or door

it arms when you lock the door

your alarm module is above the drivers kick

im not sure if disabiling it will affect anything else?

If it's the same as the Euro version made by Fujitsu, you should be able to unplug, then see if the car starts. If it does away you go. Alternative positions are bolted to upper centre console supports under inst panel or behind glovebox. Most R/H/drives here have it bolted behind glove box to the centre console, white plug with riveted strap holding the plug down.Black unit apart cig. packet size, has a mounting bracket with a 10mm bolt, labelled TVSS.

I've never seen a Corolla with a real factory-installed alarm, not even on the 2009s.

Are you sure it's not a regular aftermarket alarm?

Or it could be the dealer-installed Toyota VIP alarm, which plugs into the car with T-harnesses.

Is there some kind of flashing light on the dashboard? Exactly where is it and what does it look like?

yes corolla's never had "factory" alarms.

how does it act when it "goes off"? maybe that can help us figure out a little more.

With a horn honking the two choices are a VIP alarm from the dealer or an Automate 427 upgrade. Is it a Toyota remote?

1) Locate your valet switch.(Little black or red push button, sometimes it's even inside the LED on the dash)

2) open the drivers door, turn the key on and push & hold the button until the red light lights up solid.

3) release the button

Your car should now be in valet mode. It will only lock and unlock the doors, you alarm will be inactive.

It is a toyota remote. If you press once it locks the doors and beeps the horn, if you press it again, it beeps the horn and unlocks the door and turns dome light on. If you hold the button down it's a panic button and the horn honks over and over and blinks the parking lights.You have to hit the remote button to turn it off. It came stock on the car. It also makes it hard to start the car when the alarm is going off. You have to turn the key on and off a couple of times before it starts. There is a red light in the dash cluster.

I forgot to mention both remotes are broken. Do you think I can just replace the remotes and keep the same code so I dont have to pay extra to have it reprogramned? Thanks for all the help so far.

You should definately put it into valet until you can get new remotes. Where is the flashing light on the dash? Can you push on it like a button?
