Chris,
Nope don't know of any avionics forums. The aircraft I worked on was the C-130 Hercules and the KC-135 Stratotanker. Figured 9-10 hours a day working the stuff didn't warrant me coming home and reading a forum about it!!
Thanks for your opinions of the two systems I'm looking at. Kind of leaning towards the Compustar, but either sound pretty good for a beginner.
Did you have to put a bypass in your girlfriends Taurus?? If so what did you install?? And yes I do have both keys for my Taurus. I see you can purchase one that requires it's own key and one not needing one. Seems kinda dumb to leave a key for your car in your car!!
I have downloaded a wiring key for my Taurus to locate most wires, but when I get my system and get in a pickle I'll let you know!!

Purchased the Autopage RSTKE-900 last week. It has two 900 MHz FM remotes, the 900LCD has the two-way. The two remotes are quite small and if anyone has LARGE hands it might be an issue. Seems to have some good range though. Decided to give her a try today. I don't yet have a bypass immobilizer for the 2006 Taurus but installed everything to have my keyless entry. Did some preplanning and got all the wires lined up the last couple days. Did the hookups today and after a little bit of programming issues have a functioning keyless entry now! Have the horn, dome, and parking lights for arm and disarm. Also have the trunk pop and panic modes. All went fairly straight forward and am pretty happy so far. Will tackle the remote start at a later date when it warms up a bit!!
If anyone needs any help for a 2006 Taurus with wiring let me know. Think I have it all figured out! Thanks to all her on the forum who assisted me in my decision and answered my questions!

That's cool, I'm glad you got it all working.
By the way, I know you didn't buy/install a bypass module yet, but did you hook up the other remote start features? Brake, tachometer, and so forth?
Because if you did hook up everything, the remote start should work if you leave one of your keys in the ignition.
You may not want to be leaving your keys in your car overnight, but if it should get really cold, at least you know you have an option.

Hey Chris,
Thanks for the words of encouragement! And no I didn't hook any of the remote start features up yet. Wish I'd have been smart enough to know what you just pointed out or I might have! Thought about doing the other ignition wires while I had the kick panel off. But it was VERY cold out in my garage yesterday and probably wouldn't have wanted to hook anything else up! When it gets a little warmer--if it ever does--I'll do that and maybe by then have my bypass.
I didn't run my antenna up to the windshield, really didn't want that, but the range is still pretty good. Can lock/unlock from my house and assume I'll be able to start also from there. All in all pretty happy so far. I am a little sore tho today from scrunching under the dash-- not as easy as when I was 20!!
