I've noticed lately that my AviStart 4100 in my 97 Bravada has been randomly starting the vehicle without using my remote.
The wiring is all correct, yet, I woke up this morning at 4:30 to the sound of my truck running. I turned it off with the remote and it didn't turn on again. When I got to school, I flipped the hood pinswitch toggle under the dash to disable it so it wouldn't waste gas. Everything was fine.
It also started the day before at around 6:00PM...
I have two original remotes, one doesn't work properly (the battery is fine, but the button needs to be pushed REAL hard at a certain point to work. I removed the batteries from the remote just in case its sending false signals (even though the button needs to be pressed twice for remote start activation).
Are there any possible causes or defects that would cause this behavior from the remote start?

It's probably somehow in Timer Mode.
That's a feature where it starts all by itself every few hours, so it doesn't get too cold. Useful if you live in Alaska, but it's an annoyance everywhere else.
I think (but I'm not sure) it's activated and deactivated by pressing the Lock and Unlock buttons at the same time, but to be sure, open the owner's manual and see about how to turn it off.

Oh OK, That's a possibility... I was playing with the bad remote and hit a few buttons... It might've activated Timer mode...
I reset the whole module and remote memory anyway, so it should've taken care of it...
Thanks for the help!

This is actually a common problem with the new avital systems. I would recommend replacing the unit under warranty to see if this resolves your issue, that's the only way I have been able to resolve the issue.

If you're tech saavy you can reprogram the turbo timer, check the install manual.
